Primerless Anti-Corrosion Tape
A heavy-duty PE / butyl tape whose special adhesive bonds to the pipe by itself – no primer required.
What is the Primerless Anti-Corrosion Tape?
YTM Makina Primerless Anti-Corrosion Tape is a cold applied tape coating for the corrosion and mechanical protection of field joints, fittings and pipes. It combines a 0,50 mm butyl rubber adhesive with a 0,30 mm special PE backing.
Because its adhesive bonds to the pipe by itself, no primer is needed – saving a step on site. It is applied by hand or with a wrapping machine, on site or in the mill, for new construction or reconditioning of buried and submarine metallic pipes.

Why a primerless tape?

Inspection and quality control
- Check for uniform overlap and no wrinkles, air pockets or lifted edges.
- Holiday-test the finished coating at the voltage required by the project specification.
Storage and handling
- Store cartons dry and covered, away from direct sunlight and heat; keep rolls in their cartons until use.

How to apply
- CleanSurfaces dry and free from dirt; solvent-wipe grease; wire-brush to St 2 (ISO 8501-1).
- No primerThe special adhesive bonds to the pipe by itself.
- WrapApply spirally by hand or with the YTM Manual Tape Wrapping Machine, with tension and overlap per project specification.
- FinishStart new rolls by overlapping one tape width and press the end firmly in place.

Do I need a primer?
No. The special butyl adhesive bonds to the prepared pipe by itself.
How thick is the tape?
0,80 mm in total: 0,50 mm adhesive and 0,30 mm PE backing.
Can it be applied by machine?
Yes – by hand or with the YTM Manual Tape Wrapping Machine.
What sizes are available?
100 and 150 mm wide, 30 m rolls; 6 or 4 rolls per carton, 36 cartons per pallet.
When should I choose the primerless tape instead of a primed system?
When speed and simplicity matter – for example field joints and repairs. Where a project specifies a certified system such as EN 12068 C50 or AWWA C214, use the corresponding YTM tape system.
